Hello everyone and welcome to Week 4 of the Adult Summer Reading Program! As you can see, we're having fun here at the library and hope you all are enjoying your summer as well. We've seen a ton of great books here on the blog and on BRL's Facebook page and we're loving the different reviews everyone is posting.

Competition is fierce, so keep on reading and letting us know what library books you've completed this week. At stake is a weekly $20 Walmart gift card and the grand prize of a $100 Walmart gift card! Have a great one, y'all!

  1. Book 1: All I Need Is Jesus & a Good Pair of Jeans: The Tired Supergirl's Search for Grace-By Susanna Foth Aughtmon

-This writer is hilarious, and touches on so many important areas of our lives in a very humorous encouraging way (listed in super power analogies). You can't help but relate to this great author, who makes you feel like they totally get how your feeling and wants to inspire you to greatness in our service to the Lord!

  2. Book: Simple Asian Meals by Nina Simonds

I've been stuck in a food rut so this book really helped break me out of cooking the same thing for dinner every night. The recipes are easy to follow, very simple and did not require a lot of ingredients. I've already made the Asian hot and sour slaw. Moving on to Seared Baby Bok Choy.

    1. Hi Latoya, I'm glad you enjoyed Simple Asian Meals - I read that one not too long ago and was impressed with it. Though, I tend to just read the cookbooks, I never get around to making the recipes!
On a side note, can you please reply with your last name and the branch you registered at, so in the event you win, we can be sure to get a hold of you. Thanks so much and good luck!

HEARTS TOUCHED BY FIRE: The Best of Battles and Leaders of the Civil War by Various Historical Figures of the Civil War

Very interesting and concise first person accounts of events leading up to and during the War of Northern Aggression.

  4. So glad you mentioned this book, because I have a 7 year old boy who is VERY into learning about the Revolutionary War as well as the Civil War...wondering if this would be a good book to checkout and read with him?

  5. Book 1: Bloodlines by Dinah McCall
Great mystery with a little bit of a love story. She writes great books so check her out.

Book 2: Hatteras Girl by Alice J. Wisler
Little bit disappointed by this one. Got it for the topic of the bed and breakfast but it talked more about her love life than running a b&b.

Book 3: Goodnight Nobody by Jennifer Weiner
This was a great book! If you want a book about the real life of a housewife this is the one for you. She writes very easy to read and her little sarcastic comments bring many laughs. This is a great read and I look forward to reading more of hers. Check her out!
