Week 5

Hey everyone, and welcome to Week 5 of the Adult Summer Reading Program with Blackwater Regional Library! We're getting close to the end and competition is fierce - the turnout has been great this summer. So keep on reading; we have 2 more drawings for a $10 Walmart gift card, and the grand prize drawing for a $100 Walmart gift card!

Again, no movement on my reading pile unfortunately, so here are some titles that will be released in the next 2 weeks. Blackwater doesn't have them yet, but put in a request to your local branch so you can be one of the first on the list when they are added!

Updated 8/3/11: Some books have been added, I've included the links to their catalog entries.

Retribution by Sherrilyn Kenyon
(8 copies)

Cold Vengeance by Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child
(8 copies)

Always a Witch by Carolyn MacCullough (sequel to Once a Witch)

Victory and Honor by W.E.B. Griffin
(7 copies)
Home Improvement: Undead Edition edited by Charlaine Harris (with a previously unreleased Sookie Stackhouse short story)
That's all for this week folks. Have fun reading and savor the last month of summer while you can!

    Savage Obsession By cassie Edwards
This book is abt a young girl who is kidnapped by a white man who is determined to make her his wife. Later she was rescued by a chippewa brave named Yellow feather. the man who kidnapped her first was Lamont Quinby, was determined to have Lorinda for himself. After Yellow Feathers' Cheiftain father passed away, he then became Cheif of & moved his village to a place that he had seen in a vision during his childhood.
This book I would defianely recommed for reading. It will not only touch your heart, but it will also bring tears to your eyes.

    Savage Honor by Cassie Edwards
This book again is another wonderful romance between a young white girl & a Seneca Cheil named Shadow Hawk. I could not put this book down once I started it. Shawndees' mother forces her to dress & act as a boy to save her from being a rape victim due to the conditions they lived under. Cheif Shadow Hawk learned later after taking her captive that she was not a boy that she was defiantely all woman. he took her captive because her mother was trading firewater for pelts to some of his braves.
This book is a very touching, eye tearing story. Cassie edwards again out sis herself again with this one.

    Rolling Thunder by Cassie Edwards
Cassie Edwards again writes another romantic, heat throbbing love story. not only about the love of a white woman who falls in love with the Civil Chief of the Comance tribe, but also her twin brother who has fallen in love with the Comance Princess, who was taken captive 6 months before she was taken captive. But the Comance princess passed away while giving birth to their first born son. They also learned that their parents were killed by some outlaws & renegades.
This again is a love story times two that will bring tears to your eyes.

    Thunder Heart by Cassie Edwards
This is a terrific book. It is a very heartwarming and descriptive love story. Cassie writes her stories with compassion and sensitivity of the Native Americans as they struggle to find peace in a world of prejudice, hatred & war. When she writed her stories she makes you feel like you are right there in the middle of it all.

    Savage Embers by Cassie Edwards
Now this book really touched my heart and soul to the very core.
This one was about a young woman who was raped by a man who was a close friend of her fathers'. he raped her after her father passed away and took all of his money. when he wasn;t home, she took the money from the safe, only leaving him one dollar. She jumped in a wagon that was in a wagon train as a stow away. She then married the older gentleman. She found out that she was pregnant with her rapists child. her new husband died of a heart attack before she gave birth, leaving her frightened, so she gathered what she could, tied the oxen to the wagon along with the cow and chickens and was heading towards the trading post. Only loosing her way. She then was found by the Araphaho Chief Falcom Hawk. She hid her pregnancy from him until he got her to his village in Wyoming, known as Wind River Indian Reservation.
This again is another heart felt, eye tearing love story. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to not only wnjoy romance stories, but also those who want to learn about Native Americans.

  12. Shawna - I never realized how many novels Cassie Edwards had written. I have really enjoyed reading your comments on them, and a little envious of how fast you can read; I tend to be a slow reader (which is why my To Be Read pile is so big!)

Kay - Since you enjoyed "Naked Heat" you should take a look at the other Richard Castle book we have in the system: "Heat Wave," which actually came out before "Naked Heat."

Steven - If you're a big Patterson fan, check out this list done by the East Lansing Public Library of authors with similar styles/themes to Patterson. I noticed Tami Hoag is one of the authors listed.
